Raid this week (May 4 - 5) Empty Raid this week (May 4 - 5)

Post by Slater Thu May 01, 2014 12:16 am

Wall of text inc!

Recap from last week: Remember that time that we killed heroic spoils on our 3rd attempt on Monday night? That was awesome. Way to adapt to a new strat and kill a new boss. We had some solid attempts on Thok too and I'm confident that we'll kill it quickly this week and start working on Siegecrafter.

This week I would like to try something a little different. Our roster has grown considerably in the past few weeks to the point where we have a decent sized bench for a 10 man raid. This awesome for me because it means I don't have to scramble when someone can't make a raid night but it does make it tough to keep everyone at roughly the same ilvl.

As we move into the final couple of bosses in SoO we're going to need everyone on the roster to have the gear and the performance necessary to down these bosses. So I'd like to start subbing people in and out based on what gear they still need from the first 9 bosses (the "
farm"
content).

That being said, with our relatively short raid schedule (6 hours per week), I don't want to waste 15-20 minutes per week switching toons out and staring at bosses while we wait for people to zone in. So I'd like to start subbing people in and out at specific points in SoO where there's trash to be cleared. Hopefully this will minimize downtime while allowing people to kill the bosses they need each week.

These sub in points would be: After Norushen, after Iron Juggs, after Malkorok.

Obviously this will require a few things from everyone:

1) People need to be online on raid nights whether you are participating in a given wing of SoO or not.

2) You need to be ready to jump into SoO when needed (I would give a warning before we pull the last boss in a wing that you're up next)

3) People need to let me know what pieces of gear you are still looking for from the first 9 bosses. I think it's mostly trinkets at this point.

If you're not online at least 5 minutes before raid time or aren't ready to jump when I message you between sections of SoO we'll replace you or just keep going with the roster we have already in SoO.

The idea here is to accomplish a few things:

1) Hopefully decrease the amount of loot we DE from the farm bosses

2) Increase the ilvl of the roster so that we're all at an even level

3) Give the people who have everything already a chance to sit out on bosses that they don't need

4) Have people online and ready to go if someone no shows a raid or is late

5) Allows us to easily swap people out if they are under-performing since we'll have other people online

Ideally we'll be able to kill the first 9 bosses on Sunday night, leaving Monday night strictly for progression. On monday nights we'll be bringing the best comp possible to work on the progression bosses and as we get them on farm I'll start to change the sub in points so that everyone can get in there and get the gear/achievements for the kills.

If for some crazy reason we are unable to consistently down the first 9-10 bosses on Sunday nights I'll start extending the raid lock. Remember, the goal here is to kill heroic Garrosh while it is current. We've been in SoO for 8 months now, it's getting stale (especially the first half of it) so if we start slowing down I'll just extend the lock permanently and we'll be all progression all the time.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please speak to myself, Cheeko or Iffi.

And please leave a note in this thread about which bosses you still need gear from out of the first 9 (Immerseus to Malkorok). Do not list warforged stuff or off spec stuff. I don't care about gearing people's off specs unless you are someone who switches specs often in our raids (IE Myself, Schloop, Surf).

My Resto set is solid, but my Ele set is wanting.

Big three are Immerseus, Dark Shaman, and... S̶p̶o̶i̶l̶s̶? Jackie Chan

As Glacie I basiclly need a all the cleared bosses the guild has, I need new boots as I am still stuck with Flex. (Willing to take anything but prefer ones from Gala or Dark Shammy).

Need to start rounding off my Arcane set for heroic, or if told by the higher ups (You guys) to go Fire. (Frost shares the same items as Arcane more or less)

So I'll be there ready to go! <img src=" title="Very Happy" />

I think you put yourself twice O_O (Ashe)
Also, the only ones i list are BiS Upgrades, otherwise i would take all boss loot if it was just general upgrades O_O. but again, it is up to you guys how you choose.

Eventually I'm going to add another tab on to my master spreadsheet with the loot people still need.

Also, bump for more responses! So far the only boss that no one needs is Protectors, that's interesting.

As i said before, I'm at a point in my gearing that i can go either Arcane or Fire with some minor changes here and there. with Protectors I would need the Crit Ring, but that would make me drop Noru and Sha off my List, (If I went Fire)

So in my case i'm flexable.

To reiterate what probably a lot of people have said in the past (while trying to not sound like a dick while i say it): gear does not make you a better player. You can be decked out in full Heroic Warforged gear and that still doesn't protect you from not knowing the fight/ your class.

We're heading into the last wing of SoO if you havent read up on any of your classes tips and tricks for any of the bosses so far, or any of the bosses to come: Please, let the officers so know so they can do something about your position on the team. Again not trying to sound like a dick, but that 2% wipe we had on Thok shoulda been a down. If you think these fights are hard. Just wait until the next 3.

We've had a bunch of set backs, too numerous to name. But we are finally on the right track. Six hours a week is not asking much. Hell, log on 30 mins early with everything ready then quickly scan sites and forums on what others have done. The spoils strat Slater implemented didn't just come out of thin air. Him and Cheeko scoured forums and such looking for the best possible way and it worked a lot better than the way things were going.

We've got a solid group now that is more than capable of clearing this raid while it's still current. Let's stay focused, if it's called out to die quickly. THEN DIE QUICKLY. With whats going on this week, we shouldn't be wasting ANY time

<
snip>

I just want to add onto this:

Heroic 10m Kills:

Spoils: 4418
Thok: 3187
Siegecrafter: 1685
Paragons: 1346
Garrosh: 611

Spoils >
Thok: 72% of guilds were able to kill Thok from Spoils.
Thok >
Siegecrafter: 52% of guilds were able to kill Siegecrafter from Thok.
Siegecrafter >
Paragons: 79% of guilds were able to kill Paragons from Siegecrafter.
Paragons >
Garrosh: 45% of guilds were able to kill Garrosh from Paragons.

This puts the difficulty of the last 4 bosses at (biggest jump to littlest jump) :

1. Garrosh
2. Siegecrafter
3. Thok
4. Paragons

TL;
DR:

The jump from Paragons to Garrosh is extreme.
The jump from Thok to Seigecrafter is pretty rough.
The jump from Spoils to Thok is moderate. (2% Wipe here)
The jump from Siegecrafter to Paragons is pretty low.

We need everyone on their A Game for these upcoming fights. No mistakes. Learn your class tips. Learn specs on a fight-by-fight basis. Come Prepared.
