List what you are planning to do. Remember, Raid Comp, is going to be considered so if we have ten people trying to be druids... yeah not gonna happen.

Priority will be to those staying their class.
EX: Sav is staying druid, we get 5 others wanting to be druid. Other will need to shift since it's Sav's current main.

I am looking to leave my main for pretty much any other class. I have one 90 of every class so I can be flexible. I would love to play the same class as Wreq to make things a little more fun for me, but cuz raid comps are a thing that looks less and less likely. I prefer melee but I can play any class if needed.

Some major things to consider if you are planning to change your class for wod.

1. Blizz hates melee- a lot of fights are easier with range dps to the point where bringing 0 makes the fight exponentially easier. With most dps not bringing raid cooldowns anymore this makes it an even easier decision to not bring a lot of melee.

2. Dps raid cooldowns- as mentioned above a lot of classes have lost utility. When designing a comp for a fight, classes that still bring utility will have a better chance at getting in (not a guarantee). Hunters aspect of the fox, mages amplify magic etc are going to be huge.

3. Performance- just because you play your current class well and have a regular spot raiding with us doesn't mean you have a guaranteed spot with a new class if you aren't able to perform at the mythic level.

4. Raid comp- this is the biggest one. Mythic is designed for 2 tanks, 5 healers and 13 dps. Some fights may be easier with a 3rd tank or 4/6 healers, but as Iffi said we need to consider comp on each fight and not bring 4 rogues or 6 druids because spots are limited and really it just doesn't make sense.

Anyways I have been really considering a warrior since that is what I mained for most of Cata and might enjoy it again, but if melee really is in that bad a spot I might just stick with hunter. I'm gonna have to do a bit more research and read some patch notes.

I am pretty bad at casters, in fact at the beginning of the xpac i was laughed out of a guild for playing me warlock so poorly. Idk if that is why i shy away from most ranged classes now, but I could use some input as to what classes "
play"
like melee. I'm talking lots of procs not a lot of casting <img src=

" title="Razz" /> but you know, from 40 yards. Also hybrids are a plus in my book. I can also heal. I am more comfortable at that than ranged dps.

I've never really stood out as a ranged dps as well, even now I think I'm only okay at my hunter, the reason I play it is because it was what was needed for the group comp. My preferred roles are and always will be tanks/healers/melee dps, however I've always filled in what my group has needed. I understand now that the decision has been to push for Garrosh and I know that there are more skilled hunters in our roster than me atm so I will volunteer to sit out if that is what is best for the group as I do some research as to what I want to pick up for WoD. That however is the decision of the officers and I'll always be on if needed.

Jillz, I hear ya. It can be intimidating going from something your used to, to something foreign, but we have some solid players that I am sure would help you out. We are dicks but nothing like your ex-guildies.

Most likely playing my warrior, as it has been my main since vanilla. (only played shaman for ToT, and SoO because too many people wanted to play melee)

Possibly main tanking, it all depends on how my recruiting looks. If I can pick up some solid tanks then I will dps.

You and Jillz playing same class will likely not work if you both want to come to the same raid. If you both play Melee I can guarantee this won't work.

We will probably be bringing 3 Melee to a raid for mythic.

Idk if it is planned with me moving up to the main raid team - but throwing my input in just incase - I plan to remain resto shaman as my main, but if all healer spots are taken I will likely swap to ele main.

Also - with 13 dps spots for mythic I highly doubt that only 3 spots should go to melee dps. I could easily see 5-6 melee.

yeah a lot of the videos I've been watching have around 5 melee at least in it. The fights in Word (from what I've been reading) are also not as bad as a tax to melee anymore.

Are you watching Mythic videos or heroic? Cuz the testing I watched on heroic where they flexed usually around 27 people weren't bringing 5-6 melee..... mythic raiding drops 7 people from that roster

I was watching what matters most, Mythic!

3 warriors (druid and monk were tank in that video, if i remember correctly), 1 rogue, 1 enhance shammy, 1 dk.

Thats 6 melee right there.

Heres another fight on mythic:

This time a monk and warrior as tanks but:
2 rogues, 1 ret paladin, 1 warrior, 1 dk, 1 enhance shammy.

Thats another 6 melee. I usally see 5-6 melee dps in most of the mythic videos I watch.

Here, you can see at least 4 melee on the dps chart (Towlie is tanking:

We will still most likely be going with a comp of 4 melee max, depending on the fight and mechanics, because we want to make the encounters easier for us to handle to progress quickly.

The reason we limit melee in fights is because melee requires a lot more focus in order to perform and not die. Blizz has admitted that they have pretty much never had a melee friendly raid. They said ICC and SoO were the "
most friendly"
but look at fights like Dark Shaman and Thok where most top guilds just don't bring melee on progression altogether.

Are we going to deny an exceptional melee from raiding? No. But our preference when designing a comp is going to favor range heavy.

We already have Wreq, Jillz, Slayne and Yez in melee spots as well as myself unless I am tanking (which I probably will be but like I said, depends on recruiting)
